It all begins in 1860, as a story, in the small village of Sonvilier, when Louis-Ulysse Chopard, a young talented craftsman, decides to found his watchmaking workshop. His accurate and reliable works "back in time" are quickly becoming famous among watch lovers and find their buyers all the way to Eastern Europe, Russia and Scandinavia. By the time of his death, Paul Andre Chopard, his grandson, takes over the reins. Twenty years later, in 1963, he begins looking for a buyer who is able to revive and perpetuate the rich heritage of the brand because none of his sons wants to continue the family tradition. It is when he meets Karl Scheufele, a heir of the watchmakers and jewelers dynasty from Pforzheim, Germany. He will allow the brand to experience a spectacular success in sales, together with his wife Karin he organizes an international expansion of Chopard in more than 40 cities from New York to Kuala Lumpur, including Singapore and Osaka.

In 1976, Ronald Kurowski, Chopard designer, creates a mechanism to enable small diamonds move freely on the dial of watches. This creation, which he calls "Happy Diamonds", is a success and will be awarded during the same year with the "Golden Rose" of Baden-Baden, a very prestigious award in the field of watches design. As for the collection of watches and jewelry "Haute Joaillerie", it is inspired by the 1950s. Its items are adorned with gold and diamonds or other precious stones. Watchmaker and jeweler Chopard is also a creator of accessories such as goggles, exclusive perfumes, silk scarves and original utensils, which are available in Chopard shops and boutiques worldwide.

Twenty years later, the new Calibre, a movement fully designed and assembled in the workshops of Chopard, is presented. It perfectly meets the art standards as well as the strict requirements, which must be met to be marked with the Geneva Seal or "Poinçon de Genève" quality hallmark, proving authenticity of an item by the watchmaker from Geneva. With the L.U.C Tonneau, Chopard watch continues to perpetuate with pride and shine the grand watchmaking tradition in the world. The company allows us to enter the world where jewelry and watches sparkle with a thousand lights thanks to their magnificent beauty and technical quality. Within a century, the brand has moved up by leaps and bounds from Austria to Asia and boasts a distribution network in over 70 countries.
