"This summer, I've seen your house bright coloured"

We’re talking to Jose Angel Clement, «Lizzo» textile company owner, in order to puzzle out our summer décor trends.

Patricia Sanes, May 19, 2014

He’s 49 years old, he’s got a daughter, and he’s spent all his life among fabrics. Jose Angel Climent owns «Lizzo», he is one of the most popular textile designers and is ready to meet all the requirements and wishes of the most demanding customers. Fourteen years after the company’s foundation, the expert in the field of international marketing and fabrics is standing in front of our tape recorder to give us his tips and secrets which will get our home resort dressed in a relaxed and cool style. Get ready to listen.

What fabrics are popular this season?

Mostly natural fabrics, especially linen "shabby chic" and "vintage".

And what colours?

This trend is marked with bright colours that contrast with other more natural and mineral ones. ‘Metallic’ with glitter is back into fashion.

What are the most popular printings?

These again are more contemporary and modern looking classical samples such as floral motifs on the basis of different shades of the same colour or geometric patterns with natural and blurred shades.

How to make our homes look more summery?

One should play with shades of colour to complement the natural tones. As a result? Fresh atmosphere in addition to more light and energy.

What fabrics should be avoided this summer?

Remove heavy and coarse fabrics such as wool or chenille fabrics, and refresh the decorations using linen and cotton details.

And what is the constant trend?

Natural fabrics and bright colours that convey positive energy giving you an opportunity to relax and unwind.

Neutral colours are the key element of decor creating a cool and calm summer relaxation

And what is this year’s hit?

«Lizzo» is committed to natural motifs in blue, coral and bright green colours which include different designs and drawings, like seashells or wave reflections that invite us to the sea and to the beach.

Carpets in summer ... yes or no?

Yes, carpet is a timeless decoration. Vegetable fibers, for instance, give some warmth to the floor. Carpets are perfect especially in the summer due to their freshness and natural view.

Curtains or blinds for this season?

A curtain anyway, because it is the main element that is equally suitable for rooms both in summer and in winter. Curtains give us a sense of warmth i.e., what we would like to have in our home.

Are the curtains so important?

Naturally. It is curtains which take care of creating this special mood and a cozy atmosphere. Often there is no particular need for a large amount of furniture or decorative elements: a good curtain, attractive upholstery and a few funny pillows can enliven any room. I recommend curtains made of natural fabrics that emphasize softness, volume and sensuality.

That should be present in our summery house?

We must take into consideration that our home is a place to stay and rest, so we have to give it some freshness. The colour can be a starting point on our way towards the desired freshness, coral and blue tones will be very helpful here.

What is the most common mistake we make when choosing fabrics?

Sometimes we give too much importance to the economic aspects, disregarding the fact that the fabric will be present in our house not a day or two ... One should compare and evaluate the qualities of natural and synthetic fabrics, especially things which are in direct contact with our skin: upholstery, pillows, blankets ...

Your advice: how not to go wrong?

Emphasize on quality and design, and, of course, take advice from professionals.
