Fabrics for the Great Interior Design

Fabrics for the Great Interior Design

They say “There are no sins on the pasture”, which is not true in fact! Anyone who walks in the summer from hut to hut, inevitably comes across them: red, blue or green checkered tablecloths, curtains and bedding. And if in addition to all this, there is an embroidered picture of a deer, then this “textile drama” is just perfect. A summer holiday in the Alps can present you with a real enjoyment of textile delights!

They are as customary as the alpenglow in the summer and “après-ski” coat in the winter – the typical fabrics for interior design in the Alps. There are also ornamental kinds of textile that decently decorate traditional huts and Alpine aristocratic residences, without rendering any familiar patterns – and, nevertheless, reflecting the Alpine charm. We have already dedicated one of the articles to this phenomenon in the topic “The Alpine Chic”.

Recently in a restaurant in the Alps after a long hike the atmosphere is the following: a friendly staff wearing a light national costume, Dirndl; Schnitzel and Spaetzle on the menu. So far, so good. But then: heavy wooden interior elements from the last millennium draw the overall attention. And the fabrics used in the interiors are obviously chosen in order to make the visitors enjoy their charm, they like dark shadows lay over creating the prevailing pleasant atmosphere. Therefore, you can read here a short description of modern home textiles, penetrated with an Alpine freshness, as well as those fabrics that were represented at the latest specialized exhibition “Casa”, which was taking place in Salzburg and devoted to the creative interior design.

Do you like checked fabrics? We do, too! But, please, let's choose the colours combinations that reflect the pure nature features: dilute earth shades, fresh greenery and sunny accents. It is important that the fabrics be a source of peace and security, as a shelter in the mountains. There are also Alpine-inspired fabrics that revive the traditional square patterns of bright colours and variations, such as those of JAB Anstoetz production.

Also the designers have found some new shapes for the popular deer motif that make a big difference of the kitsch of the earlier decades: there are abstraction features and minimizing of a certain kind. Do you prefer a pillow with flowers pattern? Simplicity is the key here, too. That means bright basic shades and warm or fresh colours are used for the prints design.

The embroidered napkins and pillows look particularly authentic and are of high quality. You should certainly adopt some features of the masterful hand-made goods created by the Alps inhabitants, and their quality to a certain extent, including their design. Fortunately, the number of fabric trademarks, producing textile goods, formally and technically providing the same productivity, is constantly increasing. Thanks to them your vacation in the Alps will become an absolutely incredible experience.
