Born on August 19, 1883 under the sign of Leo, Coco Chanel compared herself with this ferocious animal. "August 19 is the day of my birth. I was born under the sign of Leo. Since I am Lion I use my claws to prevent the possibility of someone hurting me. But believe me I do suffer more from scratching than from being scratched, "- she said. Her apartment was decorated with lots of lions, lions she collected lions of all types of wood, silver, bronze and alabaster. Stubborn and sensitive to detail, it has transformed the lion into a useful object, as she turned it into buttons for her famous outfits.

Today she rests in the grave topped with five stone lions by the way. And the reason for this presentation in Venice is simple,- lion is the symbol of the city, its most famous presentation is the lion in Piazza San Marco, the emblem and the protector of Doge; the city that dazzled Coco Chanel when she arrived there for the first time to try forget the death of her beloved Boy Capel in December 1919.

Karl Lagerfeld at his time had already decided to present in Venice his collection "Cruise" 2009 - 2010. But this is not the first time when Chanel fine jewelry was inspired by the image of lion. Embodying the symbol of the brand, hit turned out at the forefront of a magnificent necklace of stars and diamonds of 1932 collection. Chanel fine jewelry decided to integrate this monumental lion into jewelry by carving crystal meeting the preferred color code of Coco Chanel,- white and black.

"The Lion of Venice was favorite animal of Gabrielle Chanel. His feline, protective and powerful traits have become a recurring symbol of her creations ... Like ... comet, feathers or camellias (ed. from previous collections), collection "Under the sign of Leo" opens a new chapter in the history of jewelry of our house. The only question that we now ask ourselves is why we have not released this collection earlier ... ",- says Philippe Mougenot, CEO of "Jewelry and watches." The specific feature of this collection of Chanel fine jewelry resides primarily in the number of models, fifty eight pieces of jewelry were created for this precious and innovative collection which has put forward ideal proportions with elegant and generous forms. Almost all the models are made of white gold and adorned with white diamonds, in for other models pearls are also used. And, for the record, two pieces of jewelry were made in the workshop of Chanel fine jewelry workshop above the store at Place Vendome square. As for the lion, from the product to another it keeps the same expression of power and ferocity, diamonds lend elegance typical of the luxury brand.
